EXPLORE NEW THINGS
There is a lot to explore around the Seminaris Hotel Lüneburg: Discover history, nature and other sights in the region!
Since 2006, the telenovela Rote Rosen (Red Roses) has been running very successfully daily in the early afternoon on the German television channel Ersten: It is primarily filmed in Lüneburg. If you want to visit the filming locations, you will find them in the beautiful old town. As a fan of the series, you will recognize many a setting in the small winding streets.
The old town of Lüneburg is wonderfully romantic: here you can lose yourself in many picturesque and winding alleys and quietly take in the beauty of the buildings. There are Gothic churches and historic gabled houses to see. But also a lot of young life: As a university town, Lüneburg attracts many students.
It’s only a stone’s throw away: Just north of the city center, you’ll find the chalk lake in Lüneburg. You are not allowed to swim here, but it is a great recreation area for resting, walking and cycling. On the northern shore, you can see the light-colored limestone of the bedrock particularly well.
St. Martinus in Deutsch Evern
Named after church reformer Martin Luther, this church is located in the municipality of Deutsch Evern on the Lüneburg Heath. It is unusually housed in a farmhouse – a historic two-stall house from the 17th century. Especially the modern interior design is more than worth a visit.
In 1392, Lüneburg possessed the so-called stacking right: anyone who wanted to offer his goods for sale in the region as a merchant first had to “stack” them in Lüneburg – in other words, offer them for sale. Among other things, the city enforced this stacking right with the Lüneburg Landwehr – a system of land defense ditches.
