From Maintenance Technician to Head of Technical Operations
Why technical work means more to me than maintenance alone
I’m Stefan Besgen, Head of Technical Operations at Seminaris Hotels in Bad Honnef. Together with my team, I help ensure that all technical processes in the hotel run smoothly so guests and colleagues can rely on a well-functioning everyday operation.
What I value most about my role is its variety. No day is ever the same, and new challenges constantly arise. That’s exactly what motivates me. At the same time, direct interaction with guests and colleagues is very important to me. For me, technical work is not only about systems and maintenance, but also about teamwork and responsibility in everyday operations.
„At Seminaris, I learned that people are encouraged to contribute their own ideas and that initiative is truly appreciated.“
What makes my work at Seminaris special
At Seminaris Hotels, I experienced how important appreciation is in everyday work life. My contribution matters — whether it’s maintaining technical systems or supporting guests and colleagues during daily operations.
Hotel life remains dynamic and constantly changing. This combination of responsibility, problem-solving and teamwork is what makes my role exciting. What motivates me most is being able to work independently while also being part of a strong and supportive team.

Why working with people matters to me
Even though my role is strongly connected to technical operations, people are always at the centre of what I do. Every day I meet new guests and help support events and hotel operations behind the scenes to make sure everyone feels comfortable during their stay.
This combination of technical work, service and teamwork is what makes my job so diverse. No challenge is ever the same, and often the best solutions are created through collaboration and open communication.
What I take from my time at Seminaris
My time at Seminaris Hotels taught me how important initiative, trust and responsibility are in everyday work life.
Here, I learned to approach challenges openly, actively shape solutions and continuously develop myself. This opportunity to contribute ideas and make a real impact is what still makes my work meaningful today.
